Background

Primped logo

Primped is a mobile beauty marketplace that connects customers with professional stylists for in-home and on-location services. Categories include hair, makeup, nails, weddings, and events. Built as a dual-sided Flutter app, it serves customers who discover, book, and manage appointments, and stylists who receive requests, manage availability, and deliver services in the field.

Problem Statement

Booking an in-home beauty service still often means phone calls, scattered messages, and manual coordination. Customers struggle to find the right stylist for the right place. Stylists struggle to manage requests, travel, and status updates without a dedicated tool. Primped needed a product built around trust, convenience, and location-aware matching, without that friction.

Solution

App Developer Studio designed and built Primped as one Flutter application with two clear experiences. Shared onboarding introduces the brand and asks users to join as a customer or stylist. Customers get discovery, booking, a bookings hub, and account tools. Stylists get a portal for pending work, field status updates, availability, payouts, and services. Together, the surfaces cover the full marketplace loop from first launch through service delivery.

Under the hood

Key Features

01

Role-aware onboarding

A shared splash and guided onboarding end in a clear role choice. Customers and stylists then follow tailored registration and login flows that capture the profile details needed for matching, booking, and payouts.

02

Location-aware discovery

The customer home experience browses service categories and popular services for a saved address. Location sits in the header, with pricing and duration shown before booking starts.

03

Structured booking journey

Customers choose who the appointment is for, pick a date and time, select a matched stylist, review details, and confirm payment. The flow supports booking for yourself or another recipient, including address and payment updates.

04

Bookings hub

Upcoming, Pending, and Past tabs keep appointments organised. Customers track approval status, see urgency cues, open details, complete services with OTP verification, and leave reviews after past appointments.

05

Profile and account tools

Personal details, saved addresses, payment methods, notification preferences, and support links live in one place. Multiple addresses can carry accessibility and pet attributes so stylists arrive prepared.

06

Stylist portal

Stylists review pending requests, track upcoming appointments with on-my-way and arrival updates, manage availability and travel preferences, configure payouts, and maintain the services they offer.

What we had to solve

Challenges and Solutions

Two products in one app

Customers book beauty services. Stylists run a field business. We solved it with a shared entry experience, then separate registration, booking, and profile paths so each side only sees what it needs.

Matching around place, not just time

Beauty bookings fail when the suburb, address quirks, or travel radius are wrong. We kept location in the discovery header, captured address attributes on the customer side, and let stylists set travel preferences and availability before requests arrive.

Trust during service delivery

Once a booking is live, both sides need status, not guesswork. Pending approval, urgency indicators, on-my-way confirmations, and OTP completion give a clear path from request to done, without relying on phone calls.

What happened

Outcome

Primped gives both sides of the marketplace a complete product loop. Customers can discover local services, book for themselves or someone else, track appointments, and manage addresses and payments. Stylists can accept work, update field status, set availability, and maintain payout and service details. The result is a booking experience that replaces scattered coordination with one shared system of record.

Future Directions

The same dual-sided foundations can extend into richer matching, deeper review signals, and broader service categories as Primped grows. The booking, status, and profile patterns already support that expansion without rebuilding the marketplace core.

Conclusion

Primped shows what a beauty marketplace looks like when customer discovery and stylist operations are designed together from the start. Location context, structured booking, and field status updates keep both sides aligned from first launch through service delivery.
